The one drawback we hear from customers about Web Center is that it does not allow full control over every aspect of the website. While this is true, most clients do not see this as a problem because the only areas of Web Center that are not editable to the Financial Institution Administrator are areas that do not change frequently: headers, footers, and main navigation for example. If these areas are ever in need of a change, Digital Insight is able to make these changes on their behalf.
Some clients with technical staff on hand prefer to have full control over every aspect of the website. To support these clients, Digital Insight offers a Basic Web Hosting platform. This is commonly referred to as “UNIX” web hosting inside Digital Insight.
The Basic Web Hosting platform is a no-frills web server. Available technologies on this platform are limited to browser-level technologies: HTML, JavaScript, Flash, CSS to name a few. Clients on this platform have two choices for website change support:
Of course, this solution is also hosted in Digital Insight’s SAS 70 Type II compliant datacenter, so clients on this platform enjoy the same peace of mind as our Web Center and Internet Banking solutions.
If you would rather build your own website or work with a local web development company, but still host the website in Digital Insight’s secure hosting environment, we can accommodate that as well!
Inherited Websites must be hosted on our Basic Web Hosting platform and they must be built to our specifications.
Note that Inherited Websites always have an associated cost. Even if a client has already paid another firm to build a website and it meets our specifications perfectly, Digital Insight will need to review the source code for any security concerns, ensure that we can support any code in the site, and set up the Internet Banking Login if one is included.
A quote for an Inherited Website project cannot be generated until Digital Insight receives the complete website with all associated source files.
Digital Insight can also accommodate Financial Institutions that like the idea of using Digital Insight’s web development team to build the website (on either of the Basic or Web Center platforms), but would rather work with their own design firm.
In this scenario, Digital Insight must receive the completed design in a layered photoshop file (.psd file). Do not ask your design firm to create HTML templates. Digital Insight needs to perform this work.
Digital Insight does not discount website projects that include third party designs. While it may seem justified, we find that working with another company’s design is often more challenging than working with our own design, especially when a third party is involved in the creation process.
